DC 2 Welcome to Camp Amicus!
Hello everyone! Welcome to our first day at camp, we are excited to have you here as we begin our journey in our two week camp of Camp Amicus.
We begin our day with announcements! First off we separate into our groups and begin with our rules of camp!
Respect ourselves, others and the environment around us
Always buddy up when we are going to the washroom or getting a drink
Before we get into our camp wide game campers get to choose their choices for their two choice blocks today! Today’s choices were 9 square in the air, soccer and making terrariums.
Jenga, coloring, drawing were today’s camp wide alt game. An alternative to human scrabble if some campers didn’t want to join in! Our camp wide game today was human scrabble!
Each camper is to chase after a runner/letter holder to get a letter. After the camper tags the runner they are given a letter.
Campers are sent to find as many letters as they can, using found letters they must work together to form the longest word/phrase they can.
There can only be one runner and they can only take one letter at a time, the team with the longest word/phrase wins.
Campers get moving and familiar with each other right away with this camp wide game where everyone has a task to work together to complete the word/ phrase!
Following our camp wide game campers transitioned towards 2:6 time this is where campers and counselors get to know each other! Campers and counselors worked on creating braids and paper planes. As well as their individual goals and their camp contract! The camp contract is where campers list out things they want to see in camp and things they don’t want to see in camp. Actions they enjoy as in having fun, and actions they dislike such as pushing!
After campers transition to lunch and fuel up before campers transition to their first choice block of the day. Today’s choices were 9 square in the air, soccer and making terrariums!
Campers then after a quick break transition and switch up to their second choice block of the day!
Wow what a great start to camp, we ended it off with a bang! Campers and counselors gather around and handed out step stickers. A step sticker is given for a step in the right direction. Campers and counselors give out to whoever had a step in the right direction, a step sticker can be given for example following the respect rules! We will see you tomorrow!
